Chapter Information

The ARMA Milwaukee Chapter is one of the first chapters chartered. The Milwaukee Chapter was originally established at “The Milwaukee Filing Association” on March 6, 1948 with 15 charter members, and the group was chartered on July 1, 1948. The first chapter president was Ida Welch.

In 1952, the organization changed its name to the “Records Management Association of Milwaukee.” During the 1955-56 chapter year, the local group joined the national American Records Management Association as the Milwaukee Chapter.

In 1975, the American Records Management Association and the Association of Records Executives and Administrators (AREA) merged their organizations to form the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA). Today, the association is known as ARMA International – The Association for Information Management Professionals.

The Milwaukee Chapter hosted the 1960 National ARMA Convention. In 1979, the Milwaukee Chapter was recognized as Medium Chapter of the Year, and one of its members – Dr. David Goodman, CRM, FAI – was named an ARMA Fellow in 2002.
